Don't know how many were in attendance at Tyler, St. C, Big Wheeling, Pennsboro, and a few others around the valley back in the 70's that might have an "itch" in the back of your brain when you see my last name but thought I would see if anyone remembers seeing my old man run.

His name is Rick Rector and he ran a blue white and red #70 (Started with a 57 chevy I believe then went to Nova then in 78 or 79 ran a camero in SS and or LM not totaly sure on the class because I was busy being a pit rat lol)

Just wondering if anyone remembered him.

As I recall the blue paint job on one of his cars (a Nova maybe?) had a white chevy bow tie for 'graphics' on the sides.

Your Dad's cars always were good looking, and ran well.

Trying to get my lap top running to post pix of the Nova. Yes he had the Bow Tie on the sides in white.

He had a few Track Championship Trophys but garnered the nick name sledge hammer Ricky because he would pull panels off and bang the dents out so he would look good durring the feature. I think the Trophys he was most proud of were the "best Appearing car" Trophys.

His oldest Grand Son (my oldest) ran karts for 3 years. He use to complain that I was trying to make the kart to flashy. Tried to explain it was a family tradition ;)

I remember this car, because the two white stripes forming the Chevy bowtie symbol was very creative.  That is one advantage to having a distinctive, attractive car that won those best appearing trophys--it makes it easier to remember it 30 years later.  Wonder where that Nova is today?

Yep, I remember the Rick Rector '57 Chevy at StC Speedway. Would like to see pictures of that car. Thanks for posting the old photos!

Dad is in OVMC Wheeling because of a major pinched nerve right now. Going to see him tomorrow and will see if I can "steal" the racing photo Album and post some more (including the 57 chevy)
