Sorry to report that I won't be coming down today.  My "Mighty Tracker" was dead by the side of the road yesterday and I had it towed in for repair.  Of course, no one works on Saturday, so I probably won't have wheels until this coming Tuesday.  According to my car smart friends it's either a power pack or a fuel pump.  Neither sounds cheap.  Have a good time.  Wish I could have made it down.

Yesterday was yery good day for the Retired Racers of the Ohio Valley. The attendance was up from the April  reunion. I though the local attendance would be more than what showed up. Jean Lynch from Apolla Pa. drove 191 miles to be with us. She is a fine lady. She was the promter at Sharon Speedway at Hartford OH. for along time. She will be at Charotte for the Woo Laws finals this coming weekend. Those who missed yesterday really missed a very good day. Manys thanks to everybody that has made the Retired Racers of the Ohio Valley my dream come true, again many many thanks and a special thanks to racerjim for letting me use his site. AGAIN THANKS TO EVERYBODY Claude.

As Claude said yesterday was a very good day.  Nearly 100 people came out on a very rainy day.  I was happy to see some of our more southern bunch like Larry Brumfield and Carolyn, Ronnie Moncastle, Jim Perry and Tom Roach out this time.  Maybe we can pick up some more of the Huntington bunch in coming get together s.

Also, it was great to finally meet Lynn Feathers and her husband Jim from Morgantown.  Lynn is Paul Reed's daughter.  Probably one of the most ask questions I've had over the years is "what ever happened to Paul Reed"?  Paul was part of the northern posse that included Gary McCauley, Gene Tallman, Freddie Johnson and Jimmy Dresman.  It was good to have them there yesterday.  By the way, Jim's father was the Morgantown announcer years ago, so racers do stick together.  They promised to bring Buddy Cryster next time too.

Where were the Marietta racers at?  We missed Jim Gibson, Bill Dana and Jim Lent yesterday.  But it was good to have Tom Dickson in attendance.  Kenny Johnson brought his dad Gene, Tony Martin and Ruth Smith made it this time as well.  And we did miss Steve Armentrout.

And, what a treat to have Jean Lynch stop by.  She's 100% racer and it was good to have her.

Thanks to Claude for all the hard work.  Don't forget March 27th, 2010 is the date set for the next get together (unless something changes).  Thanks Claude.

Mr Staats (and faily) has really put a lot of time and effort into these get-togethers.

I had a great time, and it wa nice to see folk that I hadn't seen in years.

Best story of the day was Mr Henderson (I think) who said they owned the 53 car that George Harbour won the first 100 lapper @ Ohio Valley in.  He said that he had read on the internet that he had died, and turning to Larry Brumfield said that he also read Larry was at the funeral!  LOL!

Lots of great stories and a good time.  It doesn't matter if you were a track champion driver, a bleacher fan or anything in between, you should make an effort to attend one of these.  It is a lot of fun for those who ofndly remember "the good old days".
