I thank the Lord we never hurt anybody or much of anything but a few trees and some grass. I hope anyone who reads that story will keep it off the road, like we should have. Western Athens & Eastern Vinton Counties were no safe place to be that night!

Wow, did I have a good laugh lookin at the good ol' boys and good ol' toys on Crud Bros site. That was some fun stuff. I don't know if any of you remember the '50s era Jeep that dad and i sold the photos out of but here it is. It is Dean Knittel yellow here but was red before that. Always tried to get to Atomic early enough to help run the track in - left half the speedway on Portsmouth St. in Jackson the following day. I remember the comment of a highway patrolman on Rt 104 one Sunday morning when he deduced it wasn't a jeep anymore. I was running a chevy v-8 in it with a 5:37 rear and lake plugs. They were open. Before I turned 16, a friend (?) put it in a field for me and I promptly tore it all to pieces. Heck, i could see over the hood but the 6ft ditch did come as a bit of a surprise.

Here is a shot of the old Impala after a hard Sunday afternoon run. Apperently, the Crud Brothers preferred a wet, tacky surface!!

The little dog ( Buddy, a poodle) in the backseat was a frequent passenger in this old car. He started chasing us around the field, so to keep from hitting him we put him in the car. He made more laps than any of us!

Here is the original Crud Brothers car. The 57 Dodge Coronet. My Dad was driving home from work one night in this car, and the front seat went through the rusted out floor. He put a piece of a 2 x 4 under it, drove it a while longer, then gave it to me and my cousin.
